Ketevan Manelishvili

Creative biography

Ketevan Manelishvili was born on May 22nd, 1961 in Bobokvati, Kobuleti.
In 1978 she finished Bobokvati School.
In 1979 she enrolled in Zakaria Phaliashvili Batumi Musical School on the faculty of chorus-conducting. She graduated in 1983.
In 1982 she started working in music studio in Bobokvati School.
In 1983 she took a position of the choir class teacher in Kobuleti Music School N2.
In 1986, with famous Georgian composers Otar Taktakishvili’s recommendation she continued studying in Tbilisi State Conservatory, Faculty of Chorus Conducting. She graduated in 1991.
In 1991 she starts working as senior teacher of chorus conducting in Batumi Music Institute. She is currently employed there.
From 1993 to 1998 she worked in Batumi State Theatre of Opera and Ballet on position of an assistant of chorusmeister. Her cooperation with famous choir arts specialist Avtandil Chkhenkeli helped in her career and development of her artistic taste. Working together they prepared several operas: Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida and Othello, Revaz Laghidze’s Lela, Zakaria Phaliashvili’s Abesalom and Eteri, Viktor Dolidze’s Keto and Kote, etc.
From 1998 to 2003 she worked as a chrusmeister of Adjara State Chorus.
From 2004 to 2012 she worked as a senior conductor of choir in Batumi State Musical Centre. The chorus has a rich repertoire covering the compositions from different periods and genres. Their performance is well known for its high quality.
From 2006 to 2008 she completed the comprehensive course in academic chorus conducting.
Since November 6th, 2012 to present she has worked as Deputy Minister of Education, Culture, and Sports of Autonomous Republic of Ajara.
