Creative biography

From 1975 to 1979 she studied in Zakaria Paliashvili State Musical School.

In 1984 she graduated Faculty of vocalist in Vano Sarajishvili State Conservatory (supervisor: professor Manana Gabunia). After finishing the conservatory she worked in the studio in Vano Sarajishvili’s State Conservatory, where she performed parts from the operas: Zakaria Paliashvili’s Daisi (part of Maro); Giuseppe Verdi’s Le Traviata (part of Violetta).

 

In 1985 Jansugh Kakhidze and Robert Sturua invited her as a soloist in Tbilisi Theatre of Ballet and Opera, where she performed in Viktor Dolidze’s opera Keto and Kote (part of Keto). She is an award-winner of Caucasus vocalists and instrumentalists competition prize (Baku, 1985).

 

From 1990 to 1992 she did her internship in Moskow Bolshoy Theatre (supervisor: professor P.Lisitsian). She was performing with the soloists of the Bolshoy Thetre, also participated in the workshop of La Scala’s famous tenor Bergonzi, where she performed an aria in Giacomo Puccini’s opera Tosca.

 

In 1991 she had her internship in Weimahr, Germany.

 

In 1992, in Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Moscow Concert Hall and the Grand Hall of conservatory she performed Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem which was conducted by Jansugh Kakhidze.

 

She delivered several parts when working in Tbilisi Theatre of Ballet and Opera: Tchaikovsky’s opera Evgeny Onegin (the part of Tatyana) – conductor Odysseas Dimitriadi; Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Othello (part of Desdemona); Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Un Ballo in Maschera (the part of Amelya); Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem – conductor Jansugh Kakhidze.

 

In 1990 she was on a tour in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. She was invited by Berlin impresario.

 

1991 she becomes an award-winner of Victor Dolidze International Competition.

 

In 1993 she performed major parts in operas in Batumi State Theatre: Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida (part of Aida), Giuseppe Verdi’s Othello (part of Desdemona); Zakaria Paliashvili’s opera Abesalom and Eteri (part of Eteri).

 

In 1994 she got an award for the best performance of Eteri’s part.

 

In 1995 she was invited by the Society of Ludwig Van Beethoven for solo concerts. The concert was covered by TV channel Raotre.

 

Since 1997, the time of opening Zakaria Phaliashvili Batumi State Conservatory, she has been the head of solo singing department on the faculty of vocal, and later the head of opera singing department.

 

In 1998, famous singer Paata Burchuladze organized festival “Bravo”, where Zakaria Phaliashvili’s opera “Abesalom and Eteri” was opening the festival. She performed the part of Eteri.

 

In 1998, in Aspendos, Turkey, she performed the part of Desdemona in Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Otello” staged by Batumi Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

 

 In 1999, with famous singer of Batumi Theatre of Opera and Ballet performed the part of Aida in Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Aida”.

 

In 2001 was established opera studio. She has been the studio director and has been teaching vocal since the opening of the studio. With her directing several operas were staged: Pietro Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Le Traviata, Zakaria Paliashvili’s opera Daisi, Gaetano Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor”.

 

Mariam Jakhutashvili is a member of Caucasus People Science Academy.

 

Today, she is artistic director of opera studio in Batumi State Musical Center, and she also is teaching the vocal.
